The Way We View Persuasion Mail. Persuasion pieces are like a 30-second TV spot in the mail. Because that’s how long it takes to get from the mailbox to the trash can. So the visuals and graphics better compete with the four color piece sent by American Express or the catalogue that just came from The Sharper Image. Because if the mail doesn’t stand out –– it gets tossed out.

In 2006 The Baughman Company was chosen by the DCCC to lead their Independent Expenditure campaign and help Democrats take back the House. 

One of hottest races assigned to us was Colorado-07.  A district so evenly split between Republicans and Democrats that The New York Times featured it as a bellwether for the American electorate.  On August 9th Democrat Ed Perlmutter emerged from a hard fought primary victorious but financially broke.  

The Baughman Company designed and mailed a hard hitting negative campaign that put O’Donnell on the defensive for his plan to eliminate Social Security.  This 7 piece campaign targeted to a tight universe of swing voters began one week after the Democratic primary and ran through the middle of September. 

Once the 7 piece plan had finished the DCCC began their television campaign that followed up on our mail.  The combined mail and TV campaign was so effective the RNC gave up on the race in mid-October.  The result: Perlmutter won easily.

We created a mail plan focusing on longtime Attorney General Mike Beebe’s positive vision for Arkansas voters. From Day 1, Beebe's campaign was about "Believing in Arkansas."

The Baughman Company developed a wide ranging plan heavy on Arkansas values that worked to increase Democratic and African-American turnout and to show that Beebe was one of them.  The Baughman Company created an 8 page biographic “Photo Album” piece to highlight Mike Beebe's humble upbringing and connect him to the hopes and dreams of Arkansas voters. On Election Day Mike Beebe won the Governorship with a 14 point victory turning a Red state to Blue in the Deep South.
